When I first learned about surrogacy I knew right away I was interested, but with the youngest of my three kids still a toddler it just wasn’t the right time.

Fast forward to now, the idea resurfaced and with a quick google search I found NYSC. I was skeptical if this was something I was eligible to do.

The first thing I did when I found their website was what I would call a prerequisite application. It was some simple questions about my overall health, history and lifestyle.

Then I received an email to schedule a phone call with the director to learn more about what to expect. I was confident I wanted to continue with the process.

Next was a lengthy online application, followed by a couple of medical appointments including a drug test and doctor visits.

I had to submit a lot of paperwork including authorization for a background check, credit check, drivers abstract and access to my medical records.

It took about eight weeks to receive legal clearance and now I am looking forward to what comes next.
