My name is Jennifer and I’m a 36-year-old, single mom of 2. I have never Blogged before… but I’m going to give it a try.
I’m one of those crazy people who enjoyed being pregnant. I felt good my entire pregnancy. Leaving out the few episodes of morning sickness. I liked watching my belly grow and knowing there was a new life growing. My labor was uneventful and I was blessed with 2 vaginal deliveries. I always felt that I would have more children. Life circumstances and a decision with my husband at the time lead us to the decision to stop at 2 healthy children. My then-husband got the Big Snip.
We talked about surrogacy several times but he was adamantly opposed.
Fast forward to now. I am a single mom of 2 and I still felt in my heart to carry another pregnancy.
In April, I decided to take an online survey to see if I would qualify to be a surrogate.
Through this online survey, I was connected to an amazing group of women; Past surrogates, current surrogates, and individuals fighting for the surrogates’ best interest. Through this group, I was matched to 3 premier surrogacy agencies in the US. The first agency I selected wanted a scale pic because I was close to their max BMI at 28.1 and they wanted me to work light duty immediately, without medical recommendation. I was able to work full duty with both of my keepers. I felt this kept me healthy during my pregnancy.
At that point, I felt a different agency would be a better fit.
So I decided to I switched to NYSC. I started working with Joe. He made the application process as quick and easy as possible. He is always very responsive. The hardest part for me personally was obtaining the complete policy booklet of my health insurance from my HR department. Joe and his team at NYSC were very patient with me and assisted me in obtaining the correct information. I’m so glad the hassle was worth it and my health insurance is surrogacy friendly. The fact that my insurance is surrogacy friendly may help a family that may not otherwise be able to afford surrogacy.
Now the exciting part, matching!!!
