We are ready to have this baby! Third trimester I felt so large and uncomfortable. I felt bad for how much I “complained” to Melissa of the heartburn (THE HEARTBURN!!!), sciatica, shin splints, and just overall how uncomfortable the “end” became. I still ate a ton as the baby was always hungry! I felt nothing fit any longer and I gained a lot of weight (so I felt). We went to ultrasounds twice a week as a couple of times I had high fluid that they wanted to monitor. I found myself cleaning so much as a substitute for nesting. The amount I cleaned my house in the third trimester; I think I was borderline insane (my husband would say so). I wanted to prep as much in advanced as I could before he arrived to have a smooth postpartum period.

However, this was the most beautiful stage of the pregnancy. We were together at least twice a week due to appointments but also taking some time to spend with each other and our families. We would go to Starbucks, have dinner together, or just hangout. We had a beautiful baby shower; her family was so kind and included me from the beginning to end. The shower was so heartwarming to see her entire family and friends come together and finally celebrate Ryan’s soon to be arrival. Additionally, we were thrown a small baby shower by New York Surrogacy Center at our annual retreat, and they had maternity photos done. I loved the maternity photos and thought they captured our friendship and journey so well. I just couldn’t wait to see Melissa become a mom, and to be able to hold him. We’ve talked about this for a long time and seeing it all come to life was unimaginable. As the end of the pregnancy got closer, I was nervous to give birth even though this was my third time, the unknown is always the scariest part. At the same time, I was so happy that he was almost here, and we get to meet him so soon.
